how to migrate profiles from sandbox to production

Hi,

Any quick tips to migrate profile permissions from one instance to another instance. I know we can do it using force.com tool (eclipse) but not sure how to do it. Any steps to follow would help us.

Thanks

Hi,

You cannot migrate profiles directly in any nstance. You will need to migrate complete Custom Objects, Pages, Recordtypes, Page Layouts etc then only profile will be migrated.

Lots of time, developers end up with manually migrating profile. You can take help of AppExchange however there also no full proof solution available.

In the Eclipse, right click the Profiles you want to Deploy, and click menu Force.com -> Deploy to Server, in the pop-up window, input the userid, password, token, then you can deploy to the Production.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, but thing is will the same permissions will be given to these profiles when deployed to different instance ? Also, if we had made some updates to the existing profiles , after deploying will they be reflecting the same ?

Thanks,
