Record Types

Where will be used Record Types..Explain with Examples

There are lots of reasons to use Record types, but one of the most common is that an Object Page Layout is associated with a Record Type.  So, if you have 2 types of Cases, Internal Support, and Customer Support, the fields that need to be displayed and populated would be different.  By using 2 record types, you can define different page layouts for each type presenting the user with the fields that make sense for the type of Case they are creating.

Another example can be found like -

 

If there is a commerce and scienc student  want to fill a form.

For commerce student in subjects picklist show the subject - Eco,Maths,Accounts.  For Science you can show - Maths,Bio,Chemistry...

So to display only relavent  vaues dependent on type of the user we can use record type.
