Edit option only one field in a object

Hi

I want update only one field  edit in a object and the remaining fields are readonly.How to achieve this one.

 

 

I can make readonly ------->Giving readonly permission to that objet

 

But---->I want only one can make edit and update by the users.

 

Any idea welcome.

Not knowing the whole issue, I would assume to say that you should make the fields read only on the page layout.

Making readonly at payelayout level that is one option .But I made readyonly at page layout level my users are able edit the fields.That why I am looking any best option anybody implmented.

You can also do it at the field security level by going into each field and ea field as read only for all profiles.

 

If you made the page layout read only for those fields it should work if you have the correct page layout assigned to them.

You can achive it by making other field read only from changing from layout setting.  but Mind that this setting will not work for syastem admin user .
