Can we have picklist from custom Settings in standrad page

We are storing codes and their corresponding descriptions in custom settings to avoid exceeding limit of SOQL queries . Now in picklist we have to show user the descriptions values and save the code value once selected. Saving the code values but not description is mandatory  because we have to integratre this data with our application. This can be acheived in visualforce page by creating a custom picklist , but since we are using the standard page we are curious to know if there is a way to do it.

Thanks for explaining, I do not think it is possible to call the custom settings dynamically through a standard page, that is possible only through a VF page.
