Associate Lead to Account

Is there a way to associate a Lead with an Account? Just like it's possible with an opportunity by setting the field AccountId to ID of the Account.

No, you can't do that.  It violates the ERD.

Can I create a custom field that will hold this type of information--and map it to the lead?
