Hi Suresh,

 

U need to have credential of production env  if want to login. Organisations have sandbox & prod env. U wont be able to login into prod with ur sandbox credentials.

 

For which Sandbox is generally used : Developers need to decide which sandbox is required. If u need the some real time data from prod u need to go for full copy sandbox & if u need only metadata from prod u can go for Cofiguration only sandbox.

The URL would be - https://login.salesforce.com/ 

Across all the Salesforce Orgs and Instances the Usernam is the unique ID - if you login with your username pwd, if will match the Instance and Org and enter your Org.

There are 3 different types of Sandboxes - Full, Configration and Developer Sandbox - Full would be a exact replica of Production where as config and Dev would be a subset of Production - used widely based on the requirement.

 what is mean by refresh in sand boxes??

 

When a sandbox is created - it would be the exact replica of the production (based on the type) and it would hold the same until it is refreshed - that means if we do not refresh sandbox it would not get the additions that have happened after the sandbox was created. 

For ex: full sandbox was created on 21/10/2013 at 1PM, then the records entered in production after 1PM will not be available in the Sandbox. 

If you Refresh your Sandbox after a Months - 21/11/2013 then it would SYNC the Production and Sandbox for the Moment.
