Referencing Owner Fields in a field formula

Is it possible to reference values found on the Owner's user record? I can get it to reference the active user's "user account", but not the owner.

Thoughts?

Hi Greg,
This is not currently possible with the formula language.
It is on our product roadmap as part of the "cross object formulas" initiative.  Tentative target is end of the year (ish).
