What happens if context user is deactivated in an email service

Hi, I'm using apex email services. Due to the limited number user licenses, i deactivated a user who is a context user of an email service. Due to this my email service is not working.I think Email is not received by salesforce(correct me if im wrong). Does this email service work in this context. Is there any specific setting which I need to do? I'm not sure how to handle this. Could not find any information in discussion borads and in Standard help. Any pointers will be of great help.
