How to show activity details in Lead

Hi,

  I have to create custom fields to show the Last activity date and Number of activities for a lead in the lead detail section.

How can I do that? Is it possible to show this information in Lead?

Tthis is very difficut to do on the Lead detail record (it cannot be done with a Formula, Rollup Summary, or Workflow Rule).  

 

However this is very east to do in an Activities with Leads report.  

 

Is having it on the Lead detail record a requirement?

I think you need to repost this question on the Apex board then, becuse it cannot be done with a Formula.  

 

I'm not sure I understand the requirement thoug, because if a user is viewing the Lead detail page they can easily see all of the activities and sort them by date.  It just seems like a redundant requirement.
