Last Activity on Cases

Good Afternoon All
Does anyone know if it is possible to create a workflow rule based on the last activity on a case? I want to be able to send an email to the case owner if the case has been open for x days. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Workflow rules can only be triggered when a record is saved. The system updating that field does not count as a save so cannot trigger any workflow rules.
Thanks Chris. Is it even possible to report on inactivty of a case?
