Whether triggers will fire for look ups?

Hi All,

 

I want to write a triger to fire when i am choosing a record from look up is it possible?

ex: If i choose record id from look up then autometically record name, record desc fields to be filled.

 

or same thing like while creating new contact details from contact object, if u select account look up then address details autometically populate to respective fields.
