compound fields

what is a compound field?

Hi nisha c o,

You are correct they are text fields but when you enter first name and last name and save the record you can see first name and last name in detail page you can see only Name.But when you edit the record you can again see First and Last name these type of fields are called Compound fields.

Examples of compound fields include addresses, first and last names, dependent picklists, and dependent lookups..etc.
