force.com ide install - nothing to install

Hi

I posted this a while ago in another forum

I've installed Eclipse Ganymede version 3.4

I click Hellp|Software Updates and Add Sites

and put in http://www.adnsandbox.com/tools/ide/install/

When i select Force.com IDE nothing shows and the Install button never becomes enabled!!!

 

I desperately need to bring my triggers from sandbox to production.

HELP !!

I got it working finally!!!!

Here's what i did.

 

Downloaded Ganymede  Eclipse (Version: 3.4.2

Build id: M20090211-1700)

 

I had trouble installing the IDE from work…something about the network wouldn’t allow it (no we don’t use a proxy at work )so I had to do it from home

 

Open Eclipse and select Help | Software Updates

Click Add Site button

Put in  the Force.com IDE URL:  http://www.adnsandbox.com/tools/ide/install/

Click Add Site button

Put in the Ganymede URL:  http://download.eclipse.org/releases/ganymede

Under Ganymede select Web and Java EE Development and install that

(had to do this or I was getting the ‘error occurred while collecting items’ error when trying to install the Force.com IDE)

Under Force.com IDE select Force.com IDE 16.0.0  only and install that (because of the version of Eclipse I am running)

Try downloading this eclipse version - eclipse-SDK-3.4.2-win32

Look for any Proxy settings. In case you are going through a proxy, enable eclipse IDE for Proxy settings.

 

In eclipse IDE, select Window --> Preferences, Then select General and expand it. look for Network connections.

 

now enter your proxy details and then try downloading the IDE plug-in.

Hi

Thanks for your help.

I did discover there was an issue with our network.  So, I tried installing from home and was finally able to see the IDE files.

However, when I click install i get this error.  Any idea why?

Glad it worked, finally!

I suspect there is something in the network, probably a firewall.
