Install Force.com IDE

I have a new work pc ((Windows 7 64 bit) and want to install Force.com IDE

I downloaded the standalone Windows 64 installation and after configuring proxy settings as per the advice of our Tech Services proceeded to install but the Pulse installation seems to freeze half way through.

Tried the same installation on my home PC but seems to stop installing half way through "Installing Force.com IDE: Fetching software - 44.9 MB remains

Are there any detailed installation instructions for standalone installation. Or any advice?

I previously used Force.com under Eclipse on my Windows XP PC but only need Eclipse for Salesforce.

An issue has been discovered in the Pulse installer technology, which on rare occasions can cause an install to freeze partway through.  We've been advised that, as a short term workaround, simply restarting the install should resolve the issue.

We will update the Force.com IDE standalone installers with the Pulse fix when it is available.

You can't directly install force.com IDE ,it required eclipse environment.

1.First install JRE in yours machine 64 bit

2.Downlaod eclipse 64bit

then install force IDE  with the help of documentation

This link certainly gives the impression you don't need to download Eclipse:

If I understand correctly, you do not need Eclipse installed, the IDE is standalone now, but you do need the latest JDK. Do you have that installed?

Did you mean 32 bit or 64 bit standalone installer. I uninstalled 64 Pulse and tried again but same problem!

I've also reinstalled 32 bit Eclipse and added Force.ide but same missing files as reported above. (Unless I am missing something installing Eclipse is just a case of downloading the zip file, unzipped it to the C:\ drive root and running Eclipse?

Arrow,

64 bit and 32 bits depends on yours computer.Check you computer what type it is 32 or 64 bit.Based on the operating system install IDE.

1.First install Java in machine

2.install IDE it will work fine.

What type of OS you are using.

This problem was properly documented on 2/9/12.  MD5 hash is not as expected, etc. osgi.bundle, com.salesforce.ide.api, 25,0,0.201206181021.  It's now July 27 and I'm still getting the same error.  The error is not sporatic.  Is the Force.com IDE being supported or what?
