How to set values for in reply to and References

Hi,

 

I have created a trigger that would send notification to a user for every email message in or from a case along with the attachments that are part of the email. 

The receiving email id is based on Google's gmail. The notification is being sent and threads for each case for each day. Suppose if the case spans over multiple days then the notifications thread depending on the date it was sent/received.

I believe this could be averted if I am able to sent a reference in the email header when sending the mail using the trigger. I need help in doing this.
