Need to add apex field with value calculated with an if statement

Hi,

I've added a new field called QMED Sale Date to a visual force page which will have a single value.

I want to add a column for Sale Date which will either use the same dates that are shown in the schedule date or will use the QMED sale date for all the values if the QMED Sale date is populated. 

 

Currently I have the column available for the Sale date, but have only been able to populate it with the schedule date.  I'm not sure how to manipulate it to perform my if statement.

 

I can provide a screen shot that better explains my requirements.

 

I'm a newbie. Any help would be appreciated.
