Relate cases to assets or products while creating case through email to case functionality

How can i relate the cases to assets while creating the case through email to case functionality?









I don't think you can do this through the standard fucntionality. You need a custom email service to replace the default email-to-case one(which you'll have to disable). This will allow you to match an existing Asset based on a value from the received email. 


If you want just to create a new Asset then a trigger on the Case is the way to go. Use on insert and check the Case Origin field to see if it's an email Case.
