Lock salesforce custom field as created date

Hi,

 

can we lock a custom field from page layout, as created_date/modified_date? And only sys admin can only be able to modify that field.

Please suggest me regarding this.

Mark the field read only for all the profiles.
Go to filed -> Set Field Level Security -> Read only header checkbox

Hi,

 

Yes you can do that. Go to the Field Level Security. Click the read only chack box for all the profiles except the Sys Admin profile.
