Error: Portal Account Owner Has No Role



I am facing the below error. Can anyone help me out from this.


Portal Account Owner Has No Role An account owner must be associated with a role to enable portal users or transfer portal users to his or her account.

This issue, for me, was tied to the Account Owner. It occurred when the Account Owner was an inactive user. Once I changed the account owner to an active user, I was able to successfully enable to the Contact record as a community user. (FWIW we have related contacts and accounts enabled.) Good Luck!
