Account Fields on Contact Page layout

Is it possible using a VisualForce page to display account fields on the contact page layout? I don't really want to create a bunch of forumla fields to do this.

What about configuring the Account mini page layout so you can hover over the Account name on the contact page layout to get the Account fields?

To answer your question, yes it would be possible in VF. But I'd probably side with aalbert - I find adjusting a page layout is almost always quicker than writing VF.
