acunyc I need to change the button name from "New Event" to "New Appointment" on the Contact Detail realted list "Open Activities".
I have tried to create a new button in the event button area, but this does not show as an option in the contact page layout "open activities" button area.
Any help would be appreciated.
Rename the "New Event" to "New Appointment" can be done in App Setup - Customize - Tab Names and Label - Rename Tabs and Labels, you will find Event, change the name to Appointment.
second, check your button display type, it must be a list button, so that can be added into related list area, to add a button in related list, you have to go to page layout configuration, check the Open Activities Related list property, there is a tab in the bottom of property popup windows, expand the "button" you will be able to see your new button.
