asoyer It appears I cannot change the OWD settings on Contact. The default is "Controlled by Parent" and its grayed out in Edit mode. Can this be changed to Private? How do I accomplish this? What am I doing wrong?
Contact is a child of Account, so it should inherit the OWD of Accounts. Also, Contacts which are not associated with any Account default to Private.
I am able to change me owd settings in my unlimited instance as well as developer instance.
Are you following the below steps?
Setup->Security Controls->Sharing Settings->Edit-> you should be able to change the option on the contact
IF Person Account is enabled you will be not able to chqange the OWD of Contact.
