the s-control text box is too big...

Hi,
 
I was trying to add a small note above the 'close date' field using s-controls. I managed to do it but the only problem was that though it was one line of text, the box took up too much space vertically. How can I fix it so that its vertical length is that of one line of text.

You can change the vertical size of an Scontrol in the page layout of the object it's embedded in.  Edit that object's page layout, click on the box that represents the inline Scontrol, and then click the Edit Properties button.  There you'll be able to modify the vertical height in pixels.

Also, is there a way to make the text smaller... I tried it on html but it doesn't work. And how do I shift it to the left or right of the field? It only allows me to move it above or below a field.

It's your Scontrol, you can set the size and font of the text box just by setting its style attributes.
