limiting managers in the same role access to certain data

Hi.what is the best way to limit managers in the same role to being able to only see the records they own and those of their subordinates. In other words Manager A cannot see what manager B (and B's subordinates) have and vice versa.

Hi,

 

Suppose you are setting this requirement for Object1 then follow following steps:

 

1) Set OWD (org wide access) of the object1 to Private.

2) Create role hierarchy and assign respective roles to managers and subordinates.

3) In OWD check the option 'Grant access using hierarchy'.

 

This will meet your requirement and in case if you wish to share a record with same level then you can create a sharing role for that.
