Enabling transparent sign on with external web sites

Hi,
Is there any recommended method for enabling SSO type of functionality with an external website?  Note that the credentials for the external web site may be different than the salesforce credentials.  In particular I want to be able to sign on to Google Analytics.

Currently I have  a S-Control with a hidden form that does the login - I want to make it more generic as well as more secure (password is in clear text) - see below

<a href="#" onclick="googlelogin.submit()">Get Google Analytics</a>
<form style="visibility:hidden;" name="googlelogin" action="https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLoginBoxAuth">
<input type="text" name="Email" class="gaia le val" id="Email" size="18" value="xx@yy.zz" />
<input type="password" name="Passwd" class="gaia le val" id="Passwd" size="18" value="secret" />
<input type="checkbox" name="PersistentCookie" value="yes" />
<input type="hidden" name="rmShown" value="1" >
<input type="hidden" name="continue" value="http://www.google.com/analytics/home/?et=reset&amp;hl=en-US" />
<input type="hidden" name="service" value="analytics">
<input type="hidden" name="nui" value="1" />
<input type="hidden" name="hl" value="en-US">
<input type="hidden" name="GA3T" value="oCGYxIWWGUE" />
