Google Android

Ciao, guys. I'm thinking that I'd start Android open-source project focusing on Salesforce using Apex API. Android is based on Java application, so I've writing my app in Java JDK6.

I succeeded in connecting to salesforce thru SOAP base web serivce so far. Now I'm cleaning up my source code and then am ready for starting source code on...google code or so.  I'm writing serveral articles about my salesforce android on http://lg3d.blogspot.com/

When I post my code, I'll add a comment to this thread again so please join in if you're interested in it..

Grazie so much,

MintFly has just released the first mobile SalesForce.com application on the Android market. To install, just search for “SalesForce” on the Android market. The Pro release contains the following functionality:
  • Viewing of all standard and custom objects
  • Full search
  • Related results
  • Integration with phone, Google maps, and email
  • Ability to password protect your session
See the webpage below for more information and screenshots. http://mintfly.com/main/2010_03_mintfly-for-android-releasedThis application is only for SalesForce Professional or higher, due to SalesForce restrictions on versions below professional. Please check your SalesForce.com version before downloading.

Feel free to email us at support@mintfly.com; we appreciate any and all feedback.

I've post my code to google code page below.
http://code.google.com/p/salesforceandroid/

You could download and run on google android.

With this app, username is harded coded but you could change it to your user name that has API enable option.

This app is really um-matured. This is read-only. The app lets you jump the detail page from child to parent only like Opportutynity to Account. parent to child (related lists) is not available now.

[Avaialble SObjects]
- Event
- Task
- Lead
- Account
- Contact
- Case
- Opportunity
- Chart Viewer (google chart api)
- Web Viewer (Visualforce viewer. you could see 2 visualforce pages if you log in as hard-coded user)

If you are interested in it, please come in the page : Salesforce  Android Project Home

Give me your thought that'd be better for the android app to be implemented.

I'm trying to do enhance its usability while coding its logic - database, sopa message handling, etc.

The following ideas hit upon me now.
- auto-upgrade/notification service when the android version has been up.
- mail connection like gmail
- online realtime *kinda* chat

(#3 might not be for business, but it'll be very convenient for users to have a means to talk about anonymous co-workers at the office for something tiny things, like when spring09 released?)

Described brief overview about my Salesforce Google Android Architecture.
That's simple architecture, Salesforce component and Google component.

At present, this app does not need to have gateway server, so I'm planning that the app
lets users play around as soon as they get the android device and install this my app while thinking about
a means to implement authentication mechanism and logging mechanism...

Great start on this project Dai!

The browser experience on salesforce.com is semi-functional on my G1. (I only use it for a read-only/view experience).

I'm thinking a killer Android app for CRM would make use of the touch screen and gestures in a way that is unique to this device, such as dragging Leads onto Users for owner assignment or incrementing opportunity stages.

Thank you, Cubic Compass. I'm almost ready to list the app on android market (yes, it'll be free)
Btw, I've post the required package to the appexchange (this is just to check user activeness from android access)

AppExchange : https://www.salesforce.com/appexchange/detail_overview.jsp?id=a0330000006btfgAAA

All that have android real device will use the app upon uploading the salesforce android module.

I deployed the SalesforceAndroid package from the AppExchange to my development org, but am not sure where I go to deploy your application onto my device. Please help!
dai.odaharadai.odahara
Hi, Templar. You can only install the application from Android market store with your mobile device directly.
I did some change about the salesforce android app. You dont need the appexchange package now.

If your id and pw (plus, security token) are correct, you could log in to the salesforce android.

Thank you so much
