can't find sforce_connect.xla
I downloaded and executed the msi file but can't find the sforce_connect.xla file
MSI install does not give any options and it is not in the expected Microsoft\Addins folder
Is it possible to get a copy of the sforce_connect.xla file somewhere else so I can place it in a folder?

http://sforce.sourceforge.net/excel/install.htm
skips right over the information LEM is looking for. Mightn't someone update this? The leap from "run the installer" to "After downloading, and un-ziping the sforce_connect.xla" is quite blatant... illustrated even!

I had some trouble figuring out how to install the Excel connector myself. I didn't think it was very clear that you have to install the Salesforce ToolKit first and then download the XLA file separately.
I went to the first link and followed the instructions to install Office Toolkit 3.0 and ran the MSI file. This involved me saving a zip file to my computer, unzipping it, and then choosing the option to run the file. The wizard tells you it is done and tells you to click "Finish".
After that, I went to the second link and downloaded another zip file to my computer. This time, I only extracted the contents of the zip file (which is only the XLA file and you can extract it by right-clicking on the zip file and choosing "Extract All..." ) and saved it by itself.
The last step involved opening Excel and navigating to the "Add-On's" screen, which is different depending on the version of Excel you are in, and then browsing to add "sforce_connect.xla".
Megm,
your reply was really clear and helpful.
Thank you
