No "New" button in tutorial for Mobile Device

Hi, I am new to Force.com, and try the tutorials and I have created a custom object "Merchandise".

My actual question relates to https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.workbook.meta/workbook/sf1_2.htm:

When tryind to Access the App from a Mobile Device in step 2 action 7 I read:
"7. You can easily create a new piece of merchandise from the mobile device. Tap New."

Unfortunately I can not found the "New" button.

I use Galaxy S with Android 2.3.6 and Opera Mobile 12.1.4.

Any help, please.

The reason you only see chatter is that Salesforce1 requires Android 4.2, so you are accessing chatter mobile which doesn't allow management of records.

You can run the HTML5 version of the Salesforce1 app in the device browser, but my experience has been that it is pretty awful.

According to the docs, Opera Mobile isn't supported for the HTML5 version of the app:

The key information is:

--- snip ---

You can access the Salesforce1 mobile browser app in these environments.
  • Apple Safari® browser on iPad® 2 and later models (including the iPad mini) and iPhone® 4 and later models, with iOS 7 or later
  • BlackBerry® Browser on BlackBerry Z10 devices with BlackBerry OS 10.2 or later and BlackBerry Z30 devices with BlackBerry OS 10.2.1.3175 or later. (Salesforce1 isn’t supported on BlackBerry Q10 devices.)
  • Google Chrome browser on Android phones with Android 4.2 or later.
  • Good Access™ secure mobile browser on Android™ phones with Android 4.2 or later and on Apple® mobile devices with iOS 7 or later.
  • Beta version: Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 11 browser on Nokia™ Lumia™ 1020 and HTC™ 8X phones with Windows® 8.1. (Salesforce1 isn’t supported on mobile phones with Windows 8.0 or on Windows tablets.)

Note: The Salesforce1 mobile browser app that’s available for Windows 8.1 phones is available as a beta version, which is production quality but has known limitations.

For best results, Incognito Mode in Chrome, InPrivate Browsing in Internet Explorer, or Private Browsing in Safari or BlackBerry Browser should be turned off.

Hi. Can you please confirm if you are using Salesforce1 App or the Web Browser?. In either cases, the new button would be generall on right side top corner of the list view. Something like below

Hope this helps.

Hi. I installed Salesforce1 from Play Store. Surprisingly it is shown as Chatter. With that I can see the Laptop but cannot add the E-reader. Did I miss anything?

Hmm, its weird that it still shows as Chatter, it might be an older version, it should install Salesforce1.

ok. You can also try Salesforce1 on your web browser by loggin into salesforce and then navigating to the url https://<your instance url>/one/one.app and see if you can find the new button there.

The buttons are there but scrolling does not work with Opera Mobile.
