Record Type

I create one USA record type in student object. when iam creating new record i choose usa record then in that country field is showing what i created in pick list that all countries are showing . but now my requirement is when i choose usa type record means automatically usa country only display in the country field like uk means uk and india means india like that......is it possible in salesforce

You can restrict picklist values for specific record-type, and only select specific countries. You can then mark your picklist to use the first value as default value in properties.

Click the Record type that you created. Click Edit near to the picklist and assign your value like UK means UK or USA means USA. Then create record according to your city. In pick list value you will get only the selected city.
