Site Usage statistics differ from Google Analytics

Hi,

The usage numbers my company is seeing from the downloadable Force.com Sites Usage Reporting app (found here: https://appexchange.salesforce.com/listingDetail?listingId=a0N30000001SUEwEAO) are significantly higher (100,000 - 300,000 more page views per month) than those numbers reported by Google Analytics.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I'm exploring the Google Analytics side to determine if we have any automated tasks running that aren't getting counted as page views in Google Analytics but are counted by Salesforce but am out of my depth.  Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

Hi Laura,

I was going through the Google Ananlytics implementation(https://help.salesforce.com/HTViewHelpDoc?id=sites_analytics_tracking_code.htm&language=en_US) and understand that code on site.com VF pages needs to be updates in order to be tracked by Google Anaytics..Does your force.com site have visualforce pages?

Please confirm..if they do, you need to add <site:googleAnalyticsTracking/> to all of them such that they ara trackable by google anaytics.

Hi Sonam,

I've passed that information on to our developers and am awaiting their response.

Most of our VF pages are going to be associated with our Customer Portal.  It's my understanding that the usage seen on the Force.com sites should be traffic headed towards our Customer portal but once the user become authenticated, the subsequent pages viewed would/should not count against our Force.com site usage.  Is this not the case?
