Standard field as read only in salesforce

Hi,

How to make a standard field on my custom object "Read only" in salesforce


Help me how to achieve this

You can make it Read Only from the page layout easily or Remove it from the page layout

It's a standard field , not a custom field , how do i remove it from the page layout ?

You can remove this field from Page Layout as well as make it Read ONly Did you try this or get any error because i can do this easily

i tried , but since its a standrd field i couldnt do it , it shows " Required " only, its graded out

i think you are making a required field to remove from pagelayout for example Name from Account which is not possible these are the mandatory field .you need to fill value in this case you need to create Custom VF page and in the extension before save manually fill the value after that you can eassily save the record. hope this help

If the particular standard field has the blue dot next to it on the page layout, you cannot remove these or mark read-only. They must be there.
