How to add jquery library as Static Resource?

Hey,

I wanted to know how to add a jquery library as Static Resource and also how to call it from a VF page?

Once you've added it as a static resource you can make the following call in your Visualforce page:
  
<apex:includeScript value="{!$Resource.jquery}"/>

I would recommend taking a look over this example [1] and see how they do it.  It's a bit overkill for what you are asking, but I know that the examples under Receiving Notifications in a Visualforce Page work and it is well written.
