Alerts & Notifications ?

I just want to know what is exactly mean by Alerts & Notifications and what is the difference between them?

If its a generic question, let me tell you what I think the difference is

Alert is something that basically stops the transaction to get more information from User, like if the form is being filled and if some fields are required, and user needs to fill those fields, an alert is displayed.

Notification is something that notifies the user after an action is done and transasction is complete. Something like you have successfully submitted your form.

We can say in other way also,

Alert is making you some warning like to do some action now or check that thing now

Notification is, it notify after completing your work or to do things may not immediately.
