There is no native way to send SMS messages throuth salesforce.There are several SMS apps avilabe in the AppExchange and some apps are free.

It is not possible to send SMS/text message from Salesforce without using any third party app since Salesforce doesn’t offer any default functionality to accomplish the same. However, you can use 360 SMS App to send and/or receive text messages via Salesforce.

As of now, there is no SMS feature in the Salesforce. But, you can achive this feature with the help of Girikon Smart SMS App.Please do have a look.
