Field is not visible on Page layout which has all read permissions on it

Hello,

I have package which has a object and a tab.

This object is used as lookup in some other object.

This object is Public read/write but still I am not able to see this object on page layoput.

On OWD, Object is Public R/W,
On profile level Object is Read and Write.
On Field level security level, object is visible for the profile.

I add this field in Page layout.
This is supposed to be visible when i open the tab but its not visible.

type is a lookup to Type object which is installed by a package

Red Star implied that the field is required.  Are you sure you are view/using the right layout?

You could be changing one layout and viewing another.

Thx

Below are my observations

1) the object is public read write on OWD.
2) The partial sandbox copy displays the field as required. (Only visible difference between prod and sandbox is permission sets)

I assumed tht in Salesforce, it is not possible to hide the field.

Hi Sandrine,
Open the field that you created and please check the 'Field level security'. See if it is visible to the profile that it is supposed. If you are System Admin it should be set as 'visible' to you.
