standard and custom objects

Hi,

Can we create a custom object and make it as a standard object in salesforce ? Is it allowed ?  We have a standard object in our org, but it is not showing up in workbench when I tried to access it. Do we need to enable any permissions ?

Workbench does use the API, which relies on the logged in user's profile permissions to view objects. Check the profile to make sure the permissions are granted for the standard object.

You can not make a custom object into a standard object. For ease of identification, custom objects always end in __c while standard objects have no suffix.
