Am I right?  If you are not viewing this on your layout, you'll have to edit it and add this standard component to the page.

Hi, did you find a solution to this? I'm finding the Open Activities list is missing in Lightning UI, but available in classic?

Even I am facing the same issue need the open activities section for custom objects but the same is not available in lightning. Have created look up relation between custom object and task. In the custom object page layout task related list in visible with new task button but in lightning the new task bottom is not there.
