Hi Priyatam,

You asked the relationship between BMC Remedyforce, Pentaho Kettle, and Salesforce.
  1. Pentaho Data Integration (aka Kettle) - open-source ETL tool.
  2. BMC Remedyforce - Helpdesk Tool developed in force.com with a focus on ITIL.   Remedyforce is downloaded exclusively from the Salesforce AppExchange.
  3. Salesforce - in this context, Salesforce (more specifically force.com) is the platform that was used to develop the BMC Remedyforce tool.

  • BMC, the company that released the Remedyforce product, did not release it's own tool to import and export data out of Remedyforce which was a good business decision.  Salesforce has such a rich webservice API that there are several great ETL tools that connect with it right out of the box.  Pentaho Kettle is one of those great ETL tools.
  • Since Remedyforce is a tool build on the force.com platform, and all of its custom objects are Salesforce objects. Any tool that can import or export data into Salesforce custom objects will work for Remedyforce.

To learn about BMC Remedyforce, visit the BMC Remedyforce Page on BMC's site: http://www.bmc.com/it-solutions/remedyforce.html
To learn about Kettle, first visit its homepage, but also watch Kettle videos on YouTube.  There is no barrier to entry for Kettle as its open source, has no install, does not require a server OS, and you can have your first transformation built in almost no time using clicks, not code.
