How can we replace lookup option from name to any other field?

How can we replace lookup option from name to any other field?

This is not possible as lookup is the reference field and when you click on "Name" from the lookup dialog then in backend it returns the ID of the record.

Saurabh,

You cannot change the lookup from NAME to any other field. You have two options here-
  1. Either create a vf page and give the reference url to the respective record.
  2. Create a a vf page with standard controller and with just a lookup field and display that page as an inline vf page.
  3. You can create mini page layout to display more fields on mouse hover of lookup field.
