report on object limits

Hi all, in an Unlimited edition org I need to monitor what different developers are doing as we are hitting limits on things like # of custom fields, #of workflow rules etc. has anyone figured out a way to report or monitor the metadata about limits?

Yes i know the system overview but i'm looking for something more granular that doesn't exist; i want to know if anyone has created a way or figured out a way to monitor specific object and system limits in a dashboard like fashion.
