Why is 'Summarize this field' on my dashboard is grayed out ?

Hi,
trying to create a dashboard out of my report, by historical data value. My dashboard 's x-axis needs to be the value progressing over time.
So i think to do this, i need to have the report with the field summarized (the field is a number). However, that option is grayed out, why ??

Hi Matt,

It might be because your records are having null values for that field. Kindly update the null values to "0" and try summarizing your data. Hope this helps you!

Good thought, i so filtered out anything null and saved the report. Still grayed out after that though .. thanks, Matt
