I found the fix: under session setting, uncheck the "Lock sessions to the IP address from which they originated" setting. Disabling this session setting resolved the issue. Thank you,
Hi Ram, thank you for helping me. Here is what I am doing: (tried again today fyi) In a trailhead module: click on the developer edition connect button enter credentials in the popup (which closes automatically) click on the launch dev org button in the new tab I have to re-enter the credentials to access the dev org back on the trailhead page I click on check the challenge and get this error: Your DE Org session has timed out. Please login to your DE Org to continue.

once you logged in using connect buuton.if you clicking launch dev org button, it will never ask for login again, if it asking then i think you have logged in using diffferent credentials, check it again.
if possible provide screen shot of all steps u doing to login.
