Modal VisualForce page with 2 controllers

I am looking for a way to load a modal VF page that has its own controller. I have seen a good post that allows you to embed a separate VF page into the existing one, but it relies on having only one controller.

Any ideas how to do this?

Why can't you use VF component which can be embedded in VF page and have its own controller?

I think I have a solution that uses a component and controller, just not sure how to close the component window when done.

Any ideas?
