How do you predefault values on fields (example: set due date on task to current date). I tried this with a trigger, but the issue is the value does not populate as soon as new is clicked (even with before insert). It is filled in only on save.
By default customization on case comments is turned off. Is there a way to turn it on? (We have to make all case comments public by default (is this achievable?) and remove the option to make them private)
Is there a way to predefault task due date to current date when a new task record is created? Also is it possible to copy over field data such as country or state from a contact record onto a new activity record created for this contact?
Is there a way either through configuration or code to make a record read only (Ex: I need to make an entire case record read only when the case is Close or Escalated).

I am facing problem at step 3 which is
Add the Force.com IDE Remote Site:
1. Launch Eclipse, and then click Help > Software Updates > Find and Install.
2. Select "Search for new features to install" and click "Next".
3. Add the Force.com IDE Remote Site:
Click "New Remote Site". The New Update Site dialog opens.
Set the Name to "Force.com IDE" and the URL to "Link: ", then click OK.
Select “Europa Discovery Site” and "Automatically select
mirrors”, then click “Finish”. Eclipse will search the selected sites
for the required plugins.
thats why Eclipse Update Manager is showing error as follow :
Network connection problems encountered during search.
Unable to access "http://download.eclipse.org/releases/europa". Error parsing site stream. [Premature end of file.] Premature end of file. Error parsing site stream. [Premature end of file.] Premature end of file. Unable to access "http://www.adnsandbox.com/eclipsetoolkit/release". Error parsing site stream. [Premature end of file.] Premature end of file.
