We have a trigger that automatically adds all new users to a number of chatter groups when the users is created.

Is there a way of preventing salesforce from sending the email to the user for each group they have been added to?

I am trying to find records that are owned by a user or anyone beneath them in the role hierarchy.

Can anyone suggest a way to do this in apex.
