I'm trying to deploy a volunteer app using Volunteerforce on Free Edition, and the login capability is disabled on the site that I've created for this. But I can't find any kind of portal to use with my site in order to enable the login function. How do I fix this?

I've set up my site with a customer portal. My initial page comes up okay. When I click the New User link, I get to the new user registration page. I fill in all of the information, but when I hit the Submit button, I get the following error message:

How can I fix this?

What is a standard controller, and how does it work/what does it do? Thanks!

Part One: How can I make an app open in the custom view that I created for that app? Part Two: How can I create a local .csv or .xls file from the data in the app? Thanks for all of your help. 

I'm trying to create a volunteer program app, or possibly a campaign -- I don't know which would work better. The app would need to allow people to sign up for various activities and also record the number of hours they spend volunteering at the activities they've signed up for. If I develop this as an app, I need to create a record for each volunteer that includes a table of all of the activities he/she has signed up for and the hours he/she has spent doing them. How do I define that table in the volunteer record? Alternatively, as a campaign, would people have access to it (the campaign) so that they can sign themselves up and manage their own activities and hours? Any help that anyone can give me is greatly appreciated.
