Can someone help me understand the differenct between the types of users available on the developer Org?

Primarily the difference betweeen the frist two: force.com free user liceneses and the platrform user licenses.

I want to invide a team of five to the org to collaborate and develope. I am aslos interested in making my develeoper org look like a non profit starter pack. I've taken a couple of class but don't have real developer experience. Any direction in appreciated.

Number of available Force.com - Free user licenses: 2
Number of available Salesforce Platform user licenses: 3
Number of available Partner App Subscription user licenses: 2
Number of available Force.com - App Subscription user licenses: 2
Number of available Chatter External user licenses: 500
Number of available Salesforce user licenses: 1
Number of available Chatter Free user licenses: 4999

First, I have my developer account and want to share it with collegues ASAP. But first I want to accomplish a couple of things.

1) I want the universe to resemble the Non Profit Universe. How might I accomplish this?

2) I'd like to hide many of the non core objects.

3) Set up the chat and invite them
