referencing "Start Date" and "End Date" in the reports tab

I want to modify this formula to stop referencing today's date and instead reference the "Start Date" and "End Date" fields in the reports tab.
 
IF(
AND(
Sales_Period_Ending__c <= TODAY(),
Sales_Period_Ending__c >= DATE(YEAR(TODAY()), 1, 1)
),
Premium_Sold__c ,
0
)
