Can i auto populate a static text in the TextBox that is rendered on selecting a choice from dropdown.?

I'm creating a drop down with two choices and each with "show input on selection" checked. How do i refer the value passed into the text box. Where is that value stored.

         I did activated the google services in salesforce, Problem is neither of the google services pages load in salesforce. THe Google Talk Sidebar component when poped out takes me to some support page. I've activated the Identity Provider n  the Single Sign On settings which can't be verified if working without the pages loading in Salesforce. Plz help me Fix.
