Salesforce sync'ing with other intergration tools.

Is it possible to use other EAI type tools (Business Objects, Cognos, IBM's Ascential) to sync data back and forth with SalesForce?  Currently we are using DataJunction.

Connection Reset error

I'm trying to delete 25k records using sforce Data Loader from the Opportunity entity and after about 50 records I get the following error...

org.apache.commons.httpclient.httpRecoverableException: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset

SQL access to Salesforce data

We at OpenAccess Software are debating the value of providing SQL compliant access to saelsforce.com and would appreciate any comments.  The objective is to provide a ODBC driver that allows the use of full SQL to perform read and write operations against any salesforce.com object.
